Product Description
This is the one that started it all! In 2005, Disneyland approached Thomas Kinkade with the idea of painting a commemerative 50th Anniversary piece celebrating the happiest place on Earth. Since Walt Disney was his biggest hero, Thomas Kinkade immediately jumped to this challenge and literally set up his easel on Main Street where he began work on his future masterpiece of the Sleeping Beauty Castle complete with decorations, flags, and banners celebrating Disneyland's 50th anniversary. In addition, Thomas Kinkade painted his family as some of the bystanders (including Thom himself, his brother Pat, his wife Nanette and his four daughters: Merritt, Chandler, Winsor and Everett). In addition, you will find 50 hidden Mickey Mouse ears throughout the piece. The magnificent sunset in the background make the colors complete in this piece and make a tremendous lighting effect when you dim the lights on this piece. There are also 12 hidden letter "N"s in the painting as a tribute to his wife Nanette. Lastly, there were 1955 Standard Numbered canvases released as a tribute to the year Disneyland opened, in 1955.
Thomas Kinkade's Disneyland 50th Anniversary helped launch the next Disney piece entitled A New Day at Cinderella's Castle which then led to Thomas Kinkade's Disney Dreams Collection which is a 12 part series celebrating 12 of Disney's most popular classical movies. The first release was Thomas Kinkade's Snow White Discovers the Cottage, the second was Pinocchio Wishes Upon a Star, the third was "Tinkerbell and Peter Pan Fly to Neverland, the forth was Cindella Wishes upon a Dream. After much anticipation, the next release in the Disney Dreams collection will be Thomas Kinkade's Bambi. This will be unveiled on March 4th and we will immediately have the image on our website as soon as it becomes available.
